It Sure Starts Early!

I caught Kami looking at the toys in the Kohl's flyer today.  I'm amazed at how early "shopping" happens.  Even during cartoons, Kami will pick things out she would like to have for "her birthday".  Unless it's a boy-toy, she wants it.  Today, she decided on a "little toy sweeper".  Funny.  Soon she will hate even the thought of receiving a sweeper for a gift.  I think they should make a "little toy sweeper" that actually works.  I'm mean, $49 at Pottery Barn Kids for a sweeper that doesn't sweep?  Seriously?  Who decides on these things.  This is the age that kids want to help.  She would LOVE to really run the vacuum if it wasn't too big for her to push around.  Maybe I should forget photography and design "little toy things" that function like adult versions then moms and dads would be happy to pay crazy prices, and the kids would be thrilled to be able to officially help out around the house!  As expensive as kids are, they need to begin earning their keep at a young age.  Once they hit around 14 years old (or earlier if braces are needed), parents need an unlimited supply of cash.  School sports, yearbooks, kids out-growing clothes, not to mention food for hungry growing boys, gas for the many trips in the car, etc., it's not easy.

So it comes down to finding bargains.  Will you be going out Black Friday?  Are the crowds, lines and traffic worth the savings?  Tell me what you think.
